Standard Bounce House Space Requirements
A standard 15x15 ft bounce house needs approximately 18x18 feet of flat, clear outdoor space with a minimum of 15 feet of overhead clearance. The extra few feet on each side give our crew room to stake and anchor the unit safely and allow for the blower tube that extends from the back.
Most Georgetown TX backyard homes in Wolf Ranch, Teravista, Berry Creek, and Rancho Sienna easily accommodate a standard bounce house. If you are unsure, measure your available flat grass or paved area and add a few feet buffer on each side. The unit itself is 15x15 ft but the total footprint with anchor stakes and blower is closer to 18x18 ft.
Combo Bounce House Space Requirements
A standard combo bounce house -- one that combines a bounce area with a slide -- needs approximately 22x20 feet of flat space with 16 feet of overhead clearance. The 6N1 combo, which includes a bounce area, climbing wall, slide, and basketball hoop, needs approximately 25x20 feet.
Combos are the most popular rental for Georgetown TX birthday parties with mixed ages, and most standard Georgetown TX neighborhood backyards can handle them. The 6N1 combo is tighter on smaller lots, so if you have a compact backyard, the standard combo with slide is usually the better choice.
Water Slide Space Requirements
Single lane water slides need approximately 20x15 feet of flat space with 15 to 25 feet of overhead clearance depending on the slide height. A 15ft slide needs about 15ft of overhead clearance. A 22ft slide needs about 22ft of overhead clearance -- watch for trees and overhanging structures.
Double lane water slides need approximately 25x18 feet. Mega slides like the 27ft Patriot or 32ft Pirate Dual Lane need 30x20 feet or more and are best suited for the larger lots in Fountainwood, Serenada, and Cimarron Hills. A standard Georgetown TX backyard with mature trees can sometimes limit the overhead clearance available for taller slides -- always measure height as well as floor space.
Obstacle Course Space Requirements
Single-piece obstacle courses (34 to 40ft) need approximately 40 to 45 feet of linear clear space with 14 feet of overhead clearance and 12 feet of width. These fit in most Georgetown TX neighborhood backyards that have a good length to them.
Multi-piece courses are a different story. A 96ft dual lane course needs approximately 100x20 feet. The 160ft Radical Run needs approximately 175x20 feet. These are designed for Georgetown ISD school carnival fields, parks, and large commercial spaces -- not standard residential backyards. If you want an obstacle course for a home party in Wolf Ranch or Teravista, the 34ft to 40ft single-piece options are the right fit.
Indoor Setup: Does It Work?
Yes -- bounce houses and smaller combo units can be set up indoors if the space has sufficient ceiling clearance and floor area. A standard bounce house needs 15 feet of ceiling clearance and 18x18 feet of floor space. Church fellowship halls, community center gyms, and school gymnasiums throughout Georgetown TX regularly host bounce house setups.
For indoor setups, we use sandbags instead of ground stakes. The blower runs the same way and connects to a standard 110v indoor outlet.
